FOCUS AND SCOPE

FOCUS

Al-Muhafidz: Jurnal Ilmu Al-Qur’an dan Tafsir aims to advance high-quality scholarly research on the Qur’an and its interpretations by providing an academic platform for classical, modern, and contemporary Qur’anic studies. The journal seeks to promote rigorous and innovative research that examines the dynamic relationship between Qur’anic texts, exegetical traditions, and lived Muslim experiences across diverse social, cultural, educational, and intellectual contexts.

The journal encourages interdisciplinary and methodological engagement that contributes to the development of Qur’anic and tafsir studies, while fostering international scholarly dialogue and critical reflection on the role of the Qur’an in contemporary Muslim life.

 

SCOPE

The journal welcomes original research articles in, but not limited to, the following areas:

  • Studies of the Qur’an and Tafsir
  • Living Qur’an and lived interpretations of the Qur’an in Muslim societies
  • Ulumul Qur’an
  • History of tafsir and exegetical traditions
  • Qur’anic hermeneutics and interpretive methodologies
  • Thematic (maudhu‘i) studies of the Qur’an
  • Linguistic and semantic studies of the Qur’an
  • Integrative and interdisciplinary studies of the Qur’an and Tafsir, including perspectives from psychology, education, social sciences, culture, and related fields

All submitted manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by other journals.

TYPES OF MANUSCRIPT

The journal accepts:

  1. Original Research Article (IMRAD)
  2. Review Article (systematic / narrative)
  3. Conceptual Article
  4. Case Study

Each type of article must follow the structure described in the Manuscript Template.

 

LANGUAGE AND LENGTH

  • Language: English (preferred) / Arabic / Indonesian
  • Manuscript length: 5,000–8,000 words
  • Abstract: 150–250 words
  • Keywords: 3–5 words

 

FORMATTING REQUIREMENTS

  • Main font: Cambria 12, single spacing
  • Arabic font: Traditional Arabic 16
  • Margins: 2.54 cm (standard)
  • Pages must be numbered
  • Tables and figures must be placed near the relevant section

Title Page

Contains:

  • Title (max. 20 words)
  • Author's name (without title)
  • University affiliation (Department – Faculty – University – City – Country)
  • Author's email
  • ORCID ID
  • Corresponding author marked with an asterisk (*)

 

Abstract

  • 150–250 words
  • No citations
  • Contains: background, objective, method, results, conclusion

 

Keywords

3–5 words, separated by commas.

CITATION AND REFERENCE STYLE

Using:

Chicago Manual of Style 18th Edition – Full Note (No Ibid)

  • Minimum of 25 references
  • 60% from journal articles published within the last 10 years
  • DOI or URL required if available

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
